Panel Discussion “Terrorism as a Geopolitical Instrument” Held

A panel discussion titled “Terrorism as a Geopolitical Instrument” was held in the amphitheater of the Faculty of Security Sciences on November 24, 2023.

The participants included political scientist and security expert Dževad Galijašević, analyst Anto Marinčić, and the Dean of the Faculty of Security Sciences, Predrag Ćeranić (moderator).

The panel was opened by Dean Ćeranić, who spoke about the understanding of geopolitics, the position of states in the era of globalization, security aspects of great power activities, and terrorism and terrorist organizations as a security phenomenon.

Political scientist Dževad Galijašević, author of several books in this field, discussed the ideological and religious foundations of terrorism, the role of intelligence services in orchestrating terrorist attacks, and the specific characteristics of this phenomenon in BiH.

Anto Marinčić is a publicist, political analyst, and former public official who was removed from public office by a decision of the High Representative. Marinčić spoke about the typology of terrorism, the 1997 terrorist attack in Mostar, and parallels between the situation regarding this issue in the SFR Yugoslavia and post-Dayton BiH.
