Lecture on “The Importance of Psychological Preparation in Special Physical Education” Held for Second-Year FBN Students

On October 23, 2025, Prof. Dr. Milan Gužvica, a retired long-time instructor of Special Physical Education at the College of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and the Faculty of Security Sciences of the University of Banja Luka, held a guest lecture for second-year students of the Faculty of Security Sciences on the topic “The Importance of Psychological Preparation in Special Physical Education.”

During the lecture, students were introduced to the role, importance, and contribution of psychological preparation, its principles, basic elements, and types, as well as psychological skills for overcoming psychological barriers and techniques related to specific routines for stabilizing the body’s condition.

In addition to the above, students were also introduced to the importance of autogenic training and autosuggestion for combat.

It was concluded that psychological preparation represents the foundation of success, where cognitive abilities enable perception and rapid decision-making, while conative characteristics provide inner strength, motivation, and resistance to stress. Simultaneously, a high level of motor skills and physical readiness ensures physical stability and supports mental processes during the execution of official duties and tasks.

Through an interactive dialogue, students had the opportunity to ask questions and supplement their knowledge, thanks to the lecturer’s rich professional and work experience.
