New titles in the libraries of FBN and AGGF
On May 14, 2024, the Ambassador of Japan to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Masami Kinefuchi, presented a donation of 60 books to the Faculty of Security Sciences (FBN) and the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (AGGF) of the University of Banja Luka.
This donation from the “Read Japan Project” Research Foundation in Tokyo comes on the basis of last year’s call by the Government of Japan for the donation of Japanese textbooks and professional literature translated into English.
Rector of the University of Banja Luka prof. Dr. Radoslav Gajanin thanked the Japanese authorities for the support they provide through the scholarship program, but also through a number of other projects. As the rector pointed out, there is room for strengthening cooperation between the University of Banja Luka and Japanese higher education institutions. He pointed out that teams from our university and from Japan worked on joint projects, and that the results of their work were successfully published in relevant international journals.
According to the Japanese ambassador, this is a donation from one of the most famous non-governmental organizations, from which in the past the University of Banja Luka received a donation of around 100 titles. The ambassador expressed the hope that through the exchange of staff and students, there will be a deepening of knowledge about Japan and an expansion of cooperation. As could be heard at this meeting, the Embassy of Japan is also planning other cultural manifestations, such as the opening of the Japanese film festival in Banja Luka.
Dean of FBN prof. Dr. Predrag Ćeranić thanked for the donation, and expressed his interest in experiences and knowledge exchange in this field of security. AGGF vice-dean prof. Dr. Maja Milić Aleksić thanked for the donation of books that will enable students to get to know the architecture of Japan better, and expressed her interest in cooperation with faculties and universities from that country. Prof. dr. Bojana Grujić at the end of the handover of the donation held at the Rectorate of the University in Banja Luka, which was also attended by prof. Velibor Lalić, Ph.D. from FBN, shared her experiences from training in the third cycle of studies in Japan and thanked the government of that country for scholarships for foreign students.
