International Confucius Institute Day
On 25 September 2021, the Confucius Institute of the University of Banja Luka closed the marking of the International Confucius Institute Day with the Chinese calligraphy workshop, martial arts class and table tennis competition.
The Chinese calligraphy workshop and the martial arts class, which the Confucius Institute organized for primary school children, were held in front of the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Banja Luka in the University Campus. The competition in table tennis, the Chinese national sport, was held at the same time in the hall of the Faculty of Political Science for secondary school students and adults.
This was the fourth year in a row that during the celebration of the International Confucius Institute Day students, teachers and other interested citizens had the opportunity to learn more about different aspects of traditional and modern Chinese culture through workshops.
This year, pupils and teachers from the primary schools “Aleksa Santic”, “Zmaj Jova Jovanovic” and “Ivo Andric” from Banja Luka, in which the Confucius Institute is organizing free Chinese language courses, as well as a large number of other children, had the opportunity to take part in Chinese calligraphy and kung fu. Earlier this month, other activities were also held to mark the International Confucius Institute Day, such as a Chinese culture quiz for students of Banja Luka Grammar School and Doboj Secondary School Center.
Over 500 Confucius Institutes in more than 140 countries traditionally celebrate this day during September and organize public events where Chinese language, culture and tradition are shared with the citizens of the local community.
